About The Role
M&C Saatchi plc is an AIM listed international advertising agency group and currently has more than 143 legal entities within the group and is continually growing, mostly by organic expansion with some acquisitions.
The group is now seeking a paralegal to undertake a range of legal/contracts work. Reporting into the group’s Legal Counsel, you will initially be tasked with working to ensure our Data Protection (GDPR) practices and processes are in place.
This is a unique opportunity for a pre-trainee to gain relevant commercial in-house experience in a global media organisation. If you are looking for an autonomous yet supported role in which to learn and grow alongside supporting the wider team, we would love to hear from you.
Alongside the requirements below, it is absolutely crucial that you have obtained LPC or GDL certifications.
Responsibilities
- Assisting Legal Counsel with running data protection audits for all agencies and departments within the group.
- Completing contract audits for various divisions of the group including producing summaries and highlighting key issues.
- Assisting Legal Counsel with commercial contracts reviews.
- Maintaining the group’s databases of contracts and precedents.
- Assisting Legal Counsel and General Counsel & Company Secretary with maintaining the books of the group (using Diligent Entities software).
- Summarising legislation and preparing guidance notes relating to the group’s business.
- Answering ad-hoc company secretarial, commercial and IP queries.
About You
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
- Have completed the LPC, preferably with commercial electives.
- Have strong academics at both A-Level and degree level.
- Ideally have a training contract with a recognisable law firm.
- Have previous exposure to company secretarial matters (including use of Diligent Entitles software, formerly Blueprint Oneworld), data protection compliance and contract reviews.
- Be organised, pragmatic and enjoy working with autonomy but as part of a team.
- Be articulate and approachable.
- Be numerate and commercial.
- Have an interest in the media industry, advertising sector and commercial work.
