Senior Strategist
Part of M&C Saatchi, this specialist division partners with governments, civil society, academia, and the private sector, to work on the critical issues of our time, including, conflict prevention and sustainable development. We provide a fully integrated, end to end service, combining multi-disciplinary communications teams with subject matter experts, across the world. Our work is domestic and global, often affecting the most vulnerable in society, with international activity orientated towards conflict affected or developing countries.
Reporting into the Strategy Director, the Senior Strategist will work alongside team members to develop behaviour change communication strategies across the social impact and international development sectors in the Indo-Pacific region. You’ll champion research, best practices and critical thinking to help diverse client organisations achieve their objectives, collaborating closely with our Research, Creative, Media and Account Management teams to deliver holistic communications solutions. You’ll also contribute to the agency’s thought leadership by developing reports and presentations on topics such as cultural trends, behaviour change and geopolitics.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop communications strategies, creative briefs, and messaging frameworks, with mentorship from senior Strategy team.
- Read widely on relevant topics and conduct desktop research to inform strategic development.
- Lead and participate in creative briefings and brainstorms.
- Explore best practices in advertising, branding, innovation and behaviour change as well as discover learnings from fields such as psychology, social sciences, and semiotics to shape strategy and creative ideas.
- Grow an intimate understanding of the client problem set and regions of interest, including social, cultural, political, and economic aspects.
- Provide support to wider strategy team in developing presentations and workshops.
- Work with research team to shape research methodologies and measurement frameworks.
- Work with media team to develop touchpoint strategies and dissemination plans.
- Work with creative and production team to spur and build on creative ideas, ensuring ideas are strategically sound.
- Work with account management team to shape strategic output and address client expectations.
- Share knowledge and experience in formal and informal ways to grow collective knowledge of the agency.
ABOUT YOU
- 5-7 years of experience in branding or communications strategy.
- Knowledge of fundamental techniques, tools, and practices of a brand and communications strategist.
- Ability to analyse and process large volumes of data and insights from multiple sources.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and simply.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various disciplines across the agency.
- Ability to understand and appreciate nuances of diverse countries, cultures and communities.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills (English).
- Proficient in all components of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
- Experience working on social impact or behaviour change campaigns.
- Knowledge of Asian languages and cultural understanding.
- Understanding and interest in politics/geo-politics, conflict, peacekeeping and emerging issues such as disinformation.
