Senior Research Manager
We are currently looking for a Senior Research Manager to join one of the group’s specialist divisions. World Services partners with governments, civil society, foundations, academia, and the private sector, we work on the critical issues of our time, including national security, social justice and conflict prevention. We provide a fully integrated, end to end service, combining multi-discipline communications teams with subject matter experts, across the world. Our work is domestic and global, often affecting the most vulnerable in society, with international activity orientated towards developing countries, and fragile, conflict affected states.
We are particularly interested in candidates with a working knowledge of, or a Degree in International Relations, Political Science, other related humanities, or social science. This role is based out of our Washington DC or New York office. We are open to remote applicants however you will need to be based in the US and have full working rights.
Job Responsibilities:
- Carrying out analysis and triangulation of qualitative and quantitative data for assessing the performance and effectiveness of multimedia communications activity and brand performance.
- Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary, cross-agency team to deliver measurable effects.
- Rigorously manipulating data sets to provide meaningful and actionable insights to inform communication strategy.
- Writing assessment reports and feeding research findings into other reporting, strategy and theory of change development.
- Designing data collection tools for pre-testing, formative research and assessment (such as questionnaires, discussion guides).
- While it is not expected that this role has formal line management responsibilities, it is expected that this role will require the informal management of others contributing to written research reports, including an Analyst.
- Work hand in hand with data analytics to provide strategic recommendations for ongoing research and assessment.
- Any other duties deemed necessary by the management of the Research team.
About You:
Essential:
- 5 years demonstrated strategic/tactical/media communication level experience within the last 10 years.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Quantitative and qualitative research experience.
- Experience managing research projects from design to report writing.
- Experience evaluating the impact/effectiveness of multimedia communications activity.
- Strong quantitative analysis skills (with experience using SPSS, R or Stata), although a specialism in qualitative research would also be considered.
- Good communication skills including experience presenting research findings and explaining technical concepts to multiple stakeholders including non-researchers, clients, etc.
- Experience designing logical frameworks (logframes) and assessment strategies.
- A strong work ethic with ability to stick to deadlines is essential.
- Must be able to legally work in the US.
- Ability to be flexible with working hours, with the likelihood of weekend work.
Desirable:
- Experience working on government contracts.
- Experience with evaluating behavioral change and brand performance would be an advantage.
- Experience designing and conducting mixed methods research studies would be an advantage.
- Data visualization skills and experience using data visualization software such as tableau would be a bonus.

Salary is dependent on experience but ranges from: $100,000 - $120,000, All candidates must have the ability to work in the US; we are unable to sponsor any work visas for this role.
