POSITION: Creative Designer

LOCATION: New York

REPORTING TO: Head of Design   

ROLE PURPOSE The Creative Designer is responsible for end-to-end design execution, from initial visual problem solving through hands-on delivery, ensuring the work is both inspired and effectively produced. Working closely with the Head of Design, the Creative Designer translates strategy and creative direction into compelling, high-quality design across both digital and physical platforms. This role sets a high creative standard while remaining grounded in the realities of timelines, volume, and production constraints.

The Creative Designer is also responsible for clearly and confidently presenting creative ideas, concepts, and design rationale to Clients, incorporating feedback while protecting the integrity of the work. Additional responsibilities include leading the execution of high-value, high-risk, or complex deliverables where senior judgment and expertise are most critical. Reporting to the Head of Design, the Creative Designer collaborates directly with Clients, Production, and the broader design team to ensure creative integrity is preserved from initial concept through final delivery.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead visual concepting and creative problem‑solving

• Translate strategy and creative direction into clear, executable design intent

• Execute design on key deliverables where complexity or stakes require senior judgment

• Maintain and elevate creative quality across all outputs

• Collaborate directly with clients and internal teams to articulate design thinking

• Support teams with hands-on executional help during complexity or volume spikes

• Help evolve Make+ design standards, systems, and ways of working

• Balance creative ambition with production reality

DEVELOPMENT

Time and support will be provided, with an expectation to continue building mastery in:

• Advanced conceptual thinking and visual storytelling

• Balancing creative leadership with hands‑on execution

• Scaled creative systems without loss of authorship

• Emerging design tools and platform behaviors

• Mentorship and informal leadership within the design team

• Strategic collaboration with Production and Creative leadership

This role is measured not by distance from execution, but by judgment, taste, and impact.

ATTENDANCE This role operates within a hybrid model. Given its leadership and collaborative nature, visibility is essential.

• 3 days in‑office minimum

• When working remotely, availability for video meetings is required (On‑camera participation mandatory) Visibility, communication, and responsiveness are critical to success in this role.

Salary is dependent on experience but ranges from: $110,000– $130,000. All candidates must have the ability to work in the US; we are unable to sponsor any work visas for this role.
