Assistant Media Planner

ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Assistant Media Planner, you will support all media aspects of current and future contracts, and any other contracts that become active over the course of employment, in regard to target audience and media mix channel planning. You will also assist in the day-to-day workings of the media team, in regard to ensuring the most effective use of media channels in order to meet specific communications objectives.
The Assistant Media Planner will support and execute as directed the day-to-day operations required for managing campaign delivery and performance ensuring accuracy on forecasted media plan to actual results. You will also support the integrity of our data and campaign performance through meticulous campaign loading and reporting. Similarly, you will be a point of contact for accounts staff on any inquiries to campaign performance or discrepancies in results; proactively manage performance and provide insights into any significant change in results; and support on operational and administrative tasks in order achieve the above objectives
What You'll Do
Work closely with Media Strategists to define and design target audiences, media mix and measurement recommendations based on client briefs and strategy recommendations.
Manage multiple information sources in order to gain as complete a picture as possible of the media environment in any given market.
To identify and clearly articulate the best means of reaching a target audience whether this is though paid, owned or earned media and demonstrate awareness of the benefits and practicalities of using each of those.
Receive creative assets from the accounts team and ensure they are loaded into World Services’ creative management platform (CMP) and into Google campaign manager
Communicate media plans to supplier for dissemination and ensure actual results match forecast
Provide regular updates to the accounts team on their project’s performance across all offline and online channels, and escalate any issues in performance in a timely manner, managing the issue resolution in its entirety.
Advise on formats, specifications with regards to digital production
Perform research on current benchmark trends and audience preferences
Support the delivery of regular and ad hoc presentations for both internal and external stakeholders
Situational Awareness:
Build on an in-depth understanding of the media environment in the region(s) of interest in order to understand the wider opportunities and risk factors affecting the country and specific TAs.
Keep up to date on media environment shifts and innovations in target geographical areas as well as emerging platforms and technologies.
Also:
Stay up-to-date with current technologies and trends in media and advertising
Be prepared to assist outside the stated core responsibilities and be proactive in supporting a small, dynamic project team dealing with daily challenges.

What You'll Bring:
Essential:

Knowledge of the media industry, media planning, buying and media dissemination.
Comfortable working with data to identify insights and recommendations for problem solving
Ability to manage multiple stakeholder relationships, both internal and external.
Experience of media projects or communications platforms
Proficient in all components of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Powerpoint and Excel).
Ability to craft and present reporting in an accurate and timely manner
Excellent communication skills to enable him/her to support work with stakeholders and to understand client requirements.
Ability to work independently with a forward leaning attitude in support of the team.
Anticipation of challenges and show of initiative across all projects.
Additional Desirable Capabilities:
Previous work experience in the sector is not required or expected, but an education to BA or equivalent level in Marketing, Media and Communications, Psychology, or similar subjects will be beneficial.
Experience in campaign management and digital / mobile advertising
Demonstrable liaison skills across the numerous sectors normally associated with working in developing countries.
A demonstrable understanding of geopolitics, International Relations and the role of communications in behaviour change.
